A great place to start – the Introduction to VET will set the scene, become familiar with the structure, terminology, buzz words and jargon; explore the principles of assessment, rules of evidence and dimensions of competency. Be prepared to answer the knowledge question projects.
Cluster 1 Design – Learning how to develop a Training and Assessment strategy – join this session to learn how to navigate training.gov.au, understand the requirements of a qualification – packaging rules, description of your student cohort, selecting the units, identifying the assessment strategies, learning about industry consultation and vocational placement – let’s put it all together in the TAS.
September dates only
Got the basics – now you are ready to learn how to design your assessment tools and instruments – remember the principles of assessment and rules of evidence – you know how to navigate training.gov.au – this will be a busy day on zoom and at the end of the day, you will have created the assessment plan, knowledge quiz, observation checklist, marking guide, mapping matrix and validation report for the unit BSBWHS201. Together, we’ll work through this, and then you are ready to select your own units and follow the same steps to complete Project 2 and 3 of Cluster 2.
September dates only
You’ve mastered creating assessments – now it’s time to complete an RPL of a candidate. In this zoom session, we’ll work together, developing an assessment plan for the RPL, unpacking the unit to understand what types of evidence could be used for the RPL, conducting the RPL assessment of our favourite student Renee or Kris, and then completing an assessment trial and review. Your participation in this session goes towards our assessors completing the observations of your performance whilst conducting assessments. Now you’ve completed project 4 – you’ve be able to complete project 5 in your own time. Stay with us for the afternoon session, covering the assessment cluster – Project 6 – we’ll help you complete the marking of 3 assessments for students.
September dates only
You’re now feeling comfortable with units and assessment – it’s time to look at the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and the responsibility that every trainer has to be able to analyse the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of units, to select and use suitable resources and strategies, to access specialist LLN support and to evaluate the effectiveness of learning support and assessment strategies. We’ll guide you through using the ACSF document and how to unpack the ACSF requirements of a unit. This will set you in the right direction to complete all projects for the unit TAELLN411.
September dates only
Across our two assessment support days, using units selected by our experienced trainer, we will be there to guide and support you in completing the various tasks in Projects 2 and 3 of the Assessment Cluster.
To start the first day, our trainer will help you unpack the selected unit of competency for Project 2, after which you will be guided through your Assessment Plan before moving through the development of your assessment instruments, mapping, and then, finally, the validation report.
Then on day two, we repeat the process for Project 3, the second unit of competency.
By the end of the two days, we expect that you will have both projects completed and ready for submission.
